New spring wheat variety brings greater choice to Northern Plains market

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., USA, Oct. 29, 2020 – Effective spring wheat production starts with selecting the right variety—and in a dynamic environment like the Northern Plains, growers understand the importance of choice when it comes to deciding which seed varieties to plant. That’s why Syngenta has added AP Murdock to its proven portfolio of AgriPro® brand wheat. A hard red spring wheat variety offering excellent yield potential and good protein, AP Murdock is now available to purchase for the 2021 planting season.

A versatile grain, hard red spring wheat is widely produced and in high demand across North America, especially in the Northern Plains. To ensure consistent performance in conditions specific to this area, new AgriPro variety AP Murdock has undergone rigorous testing since it was first developed.

Designed to meet the region’s specific needs, this medium-early maturity variety also delivers outstanding yield potential and has very strong straw. Additionally, it has good protein and very good tolerance to Fusarium head blight and bacterial leaf streak.

“Our goal has always been to bring top-quality varieties to market and to help growers select seed varieties best-suited to their specific farming operations,” said Corey Dathe, Syngenta key account lead for the Northern Plains region. “With excellent yield potential, earlier maturity and a solid disease package, AP Murdock is a good fit for growers in the Northern Plains.”

Backed by more than 50 years of wheat breeding expertise, AgriPro brand wheat varieties are consistent top performers that offer best-in-class disease packages, leading agronomics and outstanding yields.
