Mitchell will remain based in Massachusetts where he was most recently executive director of the Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation, a 6,000-member industry trade organization.

“Brad has 30 years of agriculture experience working in state government, the private sector and with grower groups,” said David Flakne, Syngenta head of State Affairs. “At the state level, he has managed regulatory oversight of seeds, pesticides, animal health, dairy, farm products, plant industries and more. His experience makes Brad an excellent addition to our team as we work to ensure that state legislation and regulation remain science-based so that Syngenta innovation can reach our customers to maintain sustainability and productivity into the future.”

Prior to his 13-year service with the Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation, Mitchell was director of Public Affairs for Monsanto Company, in Saint Louis, Missouri. In 1992, he was a Merriam Hill Fellow in Tamil Nadu, India and a grant recipient from Millipore Corporation in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

Mitchell graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing and Publishing from Emerson College in Boston. He received a Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Environmental Health, from Boston University School of Public Health, where he was Student Council president.
