Delivering today, developing for tomorrow
We know that innovation is the key to meeting the needs of growers today, as well as into the future. Through ongoing R&D, we continually deliver innovation in seeds, crop protection and precision and farm management technology.
In just 20 years, Syngenta has created one of the deepest portfolios of crop protection and seed products in the industry. Our Crop Protection lineup currently includes 37 seed treatments, 34 herbicides, 44 fungicides and 21 insecticides, while Syngenta Seeds has developed unique, industry-leading traits and trait stacks to help growers control above- and below-ground pests and produce more crops from less land and water.
At Syngenta, we employ and empower top scientific, technical and breeding talent, and collaborate with companies, universities, and other organizations. Our growers demand choice, technology that adds value and trusted agronomic advice, and we are committed to their success season after season.
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
Since completing a $160 million expansion of our Innovation Center and Advanced Crop Lab, we have been able to develop many innovative products and technologies to help growers combat emerging challenges. Each year, we develop dozens of new hybrids and varieties – many designed specifically to address growing conditions in the U.S.
Nampa, Idaho, Trait Conversion Accelerator
In 2019, Syngenta completed a $30 million site enhancement to our Nampa, Idaho, research and development and seed production facility. We built a state-of-the-art Trait Conversion Accelerator, a space with cutting-edge greenhouses and tissue culture labs. The Trait Conversion Accelerator enables us to more quickly, reliably and efficiently deliver to market corn hybrids with elite genetics and the latest trait packages —and will help to shorten product development life cycles.
Illinois, Our Hub for Seeds
In 2019, Syngenta established our Global and North America Seeds headquarters in Downers Grove, Illinois. This positions us geographically closer to our customers in the corn and soybean growing region. We also established a data analytics office in downtown Chicago that helps accelerate seed breeding.
In 2020, we purchased a 90-acre site in Malta, Illinois, where we are building a new R&D Innovation and Customer Experience Center. The site was selected for its location, soil type and accessibility, and will provide facilities for large-scale engagement with growers and others regarding corn and soybean technology and innovation.
